Startup Refugees

THU - 13.15 LIVE STAGE

Startup Refugees in a non-profit voluntary employment and entrepreneurship support network for refugees coming to Finland.

Startup Refugees was founded in 2015 by Riku Rantala and Tunna Milonoff. They saw immigration as a brain gain, and challenged likeminded to take concrete actions.

Today the network connects more than 500 of big and small companies, universities, communities and individuals. Startup refugees has mapped over 2700 skill-profiles. Many of the refugees coming to Finland have long experience in handicraft and visual arts, which has led the network to develop its possibilities especially considering the refugee artists and their possibilities for work. This year Startup Refugees are working to bring artistic talents closer to Finnish art culture, and challenges the art & culture scene to brake boundaries and find new ways of work.

At LIFT Startup Refugees joins the Live Stage discussion together with Artists at Risk project to discuss matters of art, politics and inclusion.
