Inspiring a more conscious world through photography
Maarja Loorents is one of the founders of Fotografiska Tallinn. Maarja also happens to be the soul initiative behind the idea of bringing the world class photo center Fotografiska to Tallinn. Her dream came true this year and in June the Fotografiska venue opened its doors in the Telliskivi Creative City. The journey from idea to realization lasted for more than 5 years.
Since her early childhood, Maarja has been an avid lover of art. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Pedagogy and a Master’s Degree in Social Srategies of Leadership from the University of Tallinn. She has worked in the PR and communications field for the last 20 years and has in-depth experience in both the public and private sector. She has also worked in Swedbank for years, where she helped launch several sustainability initiatives and was part of the communication team launching the new Swedbank brand in Estonia. Before that she worked in the Art Museum of Estonia where her main responsibility was to open up Kumu Art Museum for the public in 2006.
Having a strong social nerve, Maarja has played a part as a volunteer in the launch of the Opinion Festival in Estonia as well as embarked in the birth of Arvo Pärt Centre.
