LIFT Theme:

MEDIA

LIFT  makes us confront a burning issue: how has media changed in the digital era? Who collects our data and benefits from it? What is the relationship between media, trust and democracy?

Yle’s CEO Merja Ylä-Anttila will moderate a panel on the issue of hate speech.

“Are we building a dystopia just to make people click on ads?” asks techno-sociologist Zeynep Tufekci.

We will ask whether public service media still plays an important role in the middle of a trust crisis or is it part of the problem. What are the ideas and tools to build better services and platforms? We have invited some European voices to discuss the future of public media.

We are also challenging startups together with Avento to cocreate and contribute with new and fresh ideas to build a positive platform for social encounters.
